The Jim Beam BBQ Classic is a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event. It has been declared a State Championship competition by the The Honorable Matt Bevin, Governor of Kentucky. Heading into the eighth year, The Jim Beam has become the premier BBQ competition in Kentucky as well as the surrounding areas. Come join us and see how the professionals compete for cash in the world of BBQ. All made possible by Jim Beam.

We will start accepting teams on October 6 at noon. No earlier.

SCHEDULE:

  • Check in starts October 6 at noon. Judicial Center Parking Lot
  • Thursday Night 7:00 PM: The Dynamic Duo of John Branigan and Ralph Blandford will perform, live, at Mordecai’s on Main Street.
  • Friday all day check ins and Meat Inspections
  • Friday 5:00 PM: cooks meeting and reception at Mordecai’s on Main Street
  • Friday Night Chili Cook Off:
    • $25.00 entry.
    • All entry fees go to 1st place only.
    • Chili must be cooked at the BBQ site.
    • Open to the public.
  • Pie contest of the liquid variety:
    • $25.00 entry fee.
    • All entry fees go to 1st place.
  • Saturday 10:15 AM: Judges meeting and welcome. Presbyterian Church basement  (Absolutely no alcohol allowed in this area).
  • Saturday 12:00 noon : turn ins begin for BBQ contest
  • Saturday morning dessert contest:
    • Must be turned in no later than 2:00 PM at Presbyterian Church basement.
    • Open to the public.
    • Entry fee $25.00.
    • Entries can be prepared at home or on site.
    • Must use at least 1 tablespoon of Jim Beam bourbon.
    • Will be judged by KCBS judges.
  • Saturday 4:00PM Awards Ceremony:
  • Check out time for Cookers no later than 12:00 noon Sunday.
